holiday party season 2010

happy new year to all! i'm very happy for a new year, 2010 was quite the eventful year - and not always in a good way. now that the 2010 holiday is over, i think its time i post my holiday outfits. i didn't have that many events this year but the two parties that always happen are my company holiday party and of course NYE.

here in LA we don't have a lot of reasons to get all dressed up, so the holiday party is my one excuse to get fancy (well as fancy as i can for LA)!

dolce vita dress, topshop jacket, dolce vita shoes, marc by marc jacobs clutch, tights, madewell bracelet, rotary watch

i chose the green velvet dolce vita dress because i had a green velvet holiday dress when i was little. i also really liked the lace detail on the back of the dress, especially because its not like anything else i own.

the lace back did cause a little of a problem when deciding what kind of bra to wear. after going over my options i ultimately ended up bra-less, which wasn't as bad as i had thought it would be.

while i start thinking about my work holiday party dress as soon as the fall/winter lines start popping up online, new years eve is a different story. somehow, either out of not wanting to spend a lot of money, waiting till the last minute or just pure laziness i never really have plan for new years eve until like... the day of. sometimes the day before if we are really motivated. so no plan = no special outfit. this year we ended up in manhattan beach for a sushi dinner and then a small party at a friends house.

free people sweater, skirt via BP at nordstrom, frye boots, tights, rotary watch, flea market necklaces, vintage/homemade bracelets.

the outfit actually worked out perfect since were walking to and from sushi, plus i was totally warm and comfy all while looking cute! despite the lack of plan it was fun, i got to ring in the new year with some really great people! i'm so ready for 2011! i have at least two trips to palm springs, my 25th bday, & a trip to texas all before may!
