last friday i was lucky enough to attend the san pedro stop on the railroad revival tour. i say lucky because the tickets sold out really fast, which i was kinda suprised about, and apparently it was a hot ticket. but seriously - when did the banjo get so popular???

the railroad revival tour consists of three bands, mumford & sons, edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros, and one of my favorite bands, old crow medicine show, traveling on a train together for 6 days, playing a show every night. the train started in oakland, ca and ends in new orleans, la and the enitre thing is being filmed for a documentary.
i have to be honest and say i really had no idea who mumford & sons were when i bought my ticket. i'd heard some songs on a pandora station but didn't start listening to them till after i knew i was going to see them. i'd heard edward sharpe & the magnetic zero's song home (who hasn't), but never knew the band. i really only bought tickets for old crow and was so excited, i never thought i'd be able to see them live without buying a plane ticket first! anway, since i didn't have any clue how popular the other two bands were, i had a different idea about what the crowd was going to be like.

| mumford & sons join ocms on stage for their last song |
the music was fantastic - seriously one of the best shows i have been to in awhile. of course it was amazing seeing ocms live, they have great stage presence and energy. i hope they will play in socal again! i was also really impressed with edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros, they are really great live. i am definitely a fan now. of course, mumford & sons were great, and most people were there to see them. they played some new songs that were really good & it was awesome to hear new stuff since they only have one album out.

we were pretty close up to the stage during ocms, but the crowd was packed so tight so we had to get out of it for the rest of the show. am i just getting old that i can't stand to be in a crowd anymore? it mean it was hard to move. and getting out of the crowd was so difficult - it seemed like we would never get out. all in all, i had a really good time with my mom & sister at the show!
