from work to dinner @ tart

some friends and i have been talking about going to check out tart, a little restaurant attached to the farmers daughter hotel serving some southern inspired food for quite awhile now. i had purchased a $25 dollar gift card from restaurant.com for $3 during one of the 80% off sales, so we decided it was time to finally make a plan. there were only two catches for the gift card - 1. i had to spend at least $35 to use the gift card (not hard. between my sister and i, the bill was still $30 after the gift card), and 2. the gift card was only valid mon-friday. that was a little harder considering i work till 6pm mon-fri, and usually takes 45mins to 1 hour to get home. add that it was friday and raining, it took about 1.5 hours. yikes.

i def needed something i could wear to work and then go straight to dinner in. thankfully tart is a pretty casual place so i didn't need to worry about being fancy or anything, but i had a looooong day of shooting at work (110 pieces) so i needed to be comfy too.

free people parka, ella moss sweater, c&c tank, lululemon leggings, frye boots, flea market necklaces, vintage/etsy jewelry

after what felt like an eternity of driving in traffic and rain (work to home to get sister, home to eagle rock to pick up friends, eagle rock to tart) i was starving and ready to eat. i'd been checking the menu all week and had a few things i wanted to try. the appetizers sounded the best to me, so i decided to order a few things to share with my sister and friends so i could sample more than one or two things.

truffle mac & cheese. omg. AMAZING.

heirmloom tomato & basil salad with the creamiest mozzarella and best balsamic vinegar i've ever tasted.

mini blacked tuna burgers with avocado chutney and lemon aioli. such a good combination of flavors!

what my sister had - wild mushroom & eggplant pizza. i had a slice. sooo good.

i didn't get anything that was really southern, but you can check out their menu to see other, more southern, dishes offered at tart. we also decided to share a dessert, 7-up cake, but i wasn't really that impressed with the dessert. or the dessert menu in general. why no chocolate cake?? for a place called tart, you'd think that they would have more desserts. on well.

overall, it was a really fun and yummy dinner. i def want to go again for brunch, since the breakfast food looks soooo good (and i bought a total of 4 gift cards)!
