when it rains

it pours.  at least in my life.  after my car accident i took a few days off from blogging.  i was sore, tired and a little bit traumatized from the experience.  i had every intention of getting right back to blogging.  and then i received the heartbreaking (or heart-shattering) news that on april 14th my dad passed away.  my relationship with my father was difficult and almost nonexistent over the past 7 years, but i always loved him and never gave up hope that maybe someday he'd be my dad again.  the story is a long one to tell, and not always a happy one.  for now i will focus on the happy memories.    

this week's friday 5 - five of my favorite photos of my daddy

i was debating whether or not to share the passing of my dad on my blog.  in the end i just felt like i needed to do something for him, and to give some kind of explanation as to my break from blogging over the past few days.  next week i will be back to posting regularly, because the show must go on.  

sister style

work has been insane this week so far, so i'm taking the easy route - more of my sister's style (hey, she is pretty cute so i don't feel like i'm neglecting the blog!).   these pictures are from our sunday adventure. 

she likes to be silly, if you can't tell!  her skirt is actually a dress, and i have the same one in red!  i like how we each find our own way to wear the dress!  she has also worn the dress as a top, so creative!  

little sister

i recently hired my little sister to work part time for me (its not nepotism if i know she'll do a good job... right?) which i like because: 1. i get to see her more! & 2. she is at my house more so she can be my new blog photog (nothing like forcing your little sister to do something... just like the good ol' days)!  and then i decided to take pictures of her outfit since it seemed blog-worthy, check her out:

such a cutie!  i am actually kinda shocked she allowed me to take these pictures, since she doesn't usually let me take pictures of her.  but that might be cause i always try to take pictures of her eating. hahahaha.

p.s. i think carlos is not happy i've been neglecting his blog.  he keeps showing up in all the photos lately!

on june 12, 2010 at 8 am, i finally graduated college! it took me 6 years, lots of sweat and tears, but i did it. as difficult as it was i am actually very happy that it took me so long because i was able to actually study something that literally dictates my life - fashion. (and i'm lucky enough to already have a full time job doing something i love!)

i went through a few different outfits before deciding on my graduation outfit:

i am wearing a mason by michelle mason linen dress in navy, dolce vita halo two buckle sandals in navy, trina turk spence jacket in white. instead of buying one of those not so cute "pride sashes" that most graduates wear, i decided to wear my alexander mcqueen skull scarf. it makes sense, since i was in the fashion and textiles program. my mom is wearing a liberty of london for target dress, and frye shoes. i don't know what my sister is wearing, other than my old, faded hardtail fold over zipper leggings and honestly i can't believe she wore that outfit! but i guess it was early for a saturday.
