sunday excursion

this sunday i spent most of the day in dtla with my mom.  we went to see some of the art at moca, ate some lunch, and wandered around the outside of the disney concert hall.  i've yet to go there to see a performance and the only time i'd really ever been near it was the time i had jury duty (ughhh) and they make the jurors park in the underground parking lot at the concert hall.

madewell sweater (on sale!), free people top (similar), free people bandeau, rich&skinny jeans, bed stu loafers, ray-ban sunglasses, jw hulme bag

its really hard not to take massive amounts of photos, the building is so amazing!  i love all the reflections that show up.  you can't tell from the photos but i was kinda suffering (for fashion of course) - it was so hot today!  definitely shorts and NO sweater weather.  i'm soooo over summer and ready for fall.  please come soon!

fooled into fall

the other day i woke up and i swear it was fall, the fog outside my house was so thick.  it was like a white grey blanket covering the street and just some palm trees were sticking out.  it was cool outside too!  i had just received my missoni for target scarf in the mail the night before, obviously the weather was telling me to wear it.

topshop leather jacket, madewell top (on sale now!), paige denim, bed stu loafers, carlos!

howeverrrrr, it was just a trick!  by the time i got to work the jacket and scarf came off and i was wishing i had worn shorts.  i did get to rock the scarf for like an hour.  also - what exactly is going on with my hair?!?!  so gross.  i think its time for a trim.

happy friday!!!

outside lands day two

day two of outside lands,  we took it easy.  tired from phish the night before.  caught some ok go, some arctic monkeys, and some of the black keys.  highlight of my day - finding fp blogger julia via hints on twitter and getting a gift card!  i was so stoked about it!  i guess this twitter thing is kinda cool after all.

beer sausage from rosamunde sausage grill

free people sweater (similar) & bandeau, j brand houlihan cargos

bed:stu loafers

spicy mac & cheese from homeroom

sweet potato fries with wasabi and ginger dipping sauces from pacific catch

frickles!!! from those fabulous frickle brothers - yummy!

huge crowd for the black keys

the crowd was much bigger on the second day, i guess since it was saturday and more people didn't have work.  we didn't have any bands that we absolutely had to see, so we focused mostly on just relaxing and eating.  super excited for the infamous string dusters today and then arcade fire tonight!  oh, and more yummy food (and wine... i'm kinda sick of beer now)!!

whatever you do take care of your shoes

yesterday's opening day of outside lands festival 2011 was pretty amazing!  phish was playing two sets and the band was our main attraction for day 1.  i decided on basic outfit of jeans and a tank to be really comfortable during the sets.  it is pretty cool up here in SF (62 is the high in august!) so i did some layering to keep warm.  i just wish i had worn socks!

rag & bone button down, madewell tank, zara scarf (similar), ray-ban glasses

vintage belt, paige jeans

bed:stu loafers
we decided to head over to the festival around noon-ish, it was nice and sunny in the city but when we got to golden gate park it was overcast, cold and windy!  once i started dancing i warmed up pretty quick, its really the only way to keep warm!

pendleton bag
the food at this festival is probably the best you could ask for, there are soo many choices and everything smells delicious!

brisket sandwich from memphis minnie's.  boyfriend said it was "like butter"

fried plantain and black bean burrito from the little chihuahua

i hope day 2 is as much fun as day 1.  i wish phish was playing again, i guess i kinda like them more than "i enjoy the music".  i just didn't wanna admit it.  whatevs.  super excited for more yummy food today!

gone phishing

or music monday.  except its actually tuesday now, and almost wednesday!  boyfriend and i went to the hollywood bowl to see phish on monday night.

splendid tank (gifted), free people bandeau, madewell skirt (similar), bed:stu loafers, jw hulme bag

my mix-matched earring trend continues - cute little pisces earring (a gift from carolyn)
i'll admit, i'm not a huge phish fan (boyfriend is) but i do enjoy the music so i'm not against going to see them with the boyfriend.  although i would have been nice if the concert was not on a week night.  seriously, all the traffic getting there has me wondering why i still live in LA.  i guess cause i've never lived anywhere else.  a few tips/things i learned a few things from this event:

1. plan at least 3 hours to get there.  we gave ourselves 2.5 hours and it is not enough to do the park and ride.
2. a parking lot that cost $10 two years ago costs $30 during a phish show.
3. wear comfortable shoes for walking.
4. you can get your digital slr into the hollywood bowl even if they say no at security, tell them the honest truth - my phone has zoom better than the slr.
5. coors light is terrible.
6. bring your own food.  seriously, the selection at the bowl is worse than a sports arena.
7. take pictures of outfit before getting to the venue, otherwise its really, really, really crowded.

the music was good, and i had a good time (minus the foot cramp from walking).  a mandatory end to a night at the hollywood bowl is the bacon wrapped hot dog from a cart on the street.  so good!  we left a bit early since we had work the next day, but its okay cause we are going to see phish again.  on friday.  at outside lands in san francisco.  seriously though, i'm more excited for the food!
