i had to post the after photo.  i did that all by myself!

earth day margarita
i have to say, my favorite thing we did in austin was canoeing at town lake!  you can even take your dog!  so, so, so much fun!  if you are in austin you MUST go canoeing!  and you must sing "just around the riverbend" from pocahontas while you canoe!  most of all, i had such a good time hanging out with my best friends!  there's no friends like best friends, and i can't wait to take another trip to austin to visit them!

austin photo diary - pt.1

happy monday all! this will be my first full week back at work in... 3 weeks?  i'll be back to my regular posting this week, and wanted to start off the week with some photos of my trip to austin to visit my best friends.

flying over austin, prepared to land!

awesome house i spotted on a walk

bottles as candle holders, so pretty in the window

necklaces i bought from las cruxes

crazy phone found at las cruxes

crystal shopping at nature's treasures

insanely heavy spiked denim jacket at dog & pony - i did NOT buy it!

carolyn & i made a mac&cheese.  LOTS of mac&cheese!

anjelica styled my hair & put some color bug in it!

cocktails at papi tinos - cutest little restaurant/bar!   you must check it out if you are in austin.

pimm's cup at east side show room

blue bell ice cream - obvious choice when in texas!

i decided that i'd focus less on taking photos this trip, and just really be on vacation.  i did minimal thinking about what i could blog about and just really tried to enjoy the city and more importantly spending time with my best friends!  i've still got a few more photos that i'll be sharing of more my trip tomorrow!

the monterey, san antonio

the plan for friday night dinner was to go the monterey, a hip little restaurant located in the king william neighborhood of san antonio.   it also happened to be "first friday" so we started the night by checking out some art:

after the gallery we headed to dinner at the monterey.  there was short wait for a table, but the weather was nice so we grabbed a drink and sat outside to wait for the table.

we were seated about 20 minutes later on the outside patio at an oilcloth covered table!  all the tables were covered in oilcloth, as well as the walls and ceiling of the small interior!  the plates on the menu are small which is great cause you can order a bunch for the table and try a little bit of everything.  anjelica and i ordered 3 dishes to share.

greens with mustard vinaigrette & parmigiano reggiano
radishes with sea salt & ranch butter
roasted corn with lime yogurt, chili & cheese
the food was delish - i especially liked the radish dish, and think i will attempt to re-create it at home.  highly recommend the monterey, it has great atmosphere, good food, and it also reminds me of a place i'd go to in so cal.  plus, anywhere with that much oilcloth has to be awesome!

roundtop antique fair outfit

a lot of factors went into choosing what to wear to roundtop.  i knew that we would be doing a lot of walking, the weather was going to be warm, annnd it was going to be a long day - so i needed something comfortable to wear.

rag & bone button down, ray-ban sunnies

free people bandeau & halter, ag jeans shorts

jw hulme bag, toms shoes (not shown)

straw hat from antique fair

i almost wasn't going to wear the crochet top, feeling it might be too revealing but i am so glad i did!  i didn't feel like i was overheating at all during the day and i think i got a tiny bit of color.   ended up being a super comfortable outfit, and i think i looked pretty cute too!
