the plan for friday night dinner was to go
the monterey, a hip little restaurant located in the king william neighborhood of san antonio. it also happened to be "first friday" so we started the night by checking out some art:
after the gallery we headed to dinner at the monterey. there was short wait for a table, but the weather was nice so we grabbed a drink and sat outside to wait for the table.
we were seated about 20 minutes later on the outside patio at an
oilcloth covered table! all the tables were covered in
oilcloth, as well as the walls and ceiling of the small interior! the plates on the menu are small which is great cause you can order a bunch for the table and try a little bit of everything. anjelica and i ordered 3 dishes to share.
 |
| greens with mustard vinaigrette & parmigiano reggiano |
 |
| radishes with sea salt & ranch butter |
 |
| roasted corn with lime yogurt, chili & cheese |
the food was delish - i especially liked the radish dish, and think i will attempt to re-create it at home. highly recommend
the monterey, it has great atmosphere, good food, and it also reminds me of a place i'd go to in so cal. plus, anywhere with that much
oilcloth has to be awesome!
