liberty & chambray for all

another outfit from the long weekend.  i  decided to go the colorful route for a casual dinner sunday night, mostly cause i was hoping all the color would distract people from my sunburned legs (which doesn't look as bad as it felt).

i've gotten so much wear out of this liberty of london for target dress, after all these years i still think that was my favorite target/designer collaboration.  remember back when it was actually possible to get something from those target collabs?  ohhh, those were the days!  i won these shoemint wedges back in february during the pose/shoemint valentines day contest.  it took awhile for the prize to arrive in the mail, but it was well worth the wait.  i love the shoes, they are the perfect color & style for the summer!  are you ready for summer yet?  do you have one summer staple you pull out every year?

fooled into fall

the other day i woke up and i swear it was fall, the fog outside my house was so thick.  it was like a white grey blanket covering the street and just some palm trees were sticking out.  it was cool outside too!  i had just received my missoni for target scarf in the mail the night before, obviously the weather was telling me to wear it.

topshop leather jacket, madewell top (on sale now!), paige denim, bed stu loafers, carlos!

howeverrrrr, it was just a trick!  by the time i got to work the jacket and scarf came off and i was wishing i had worn shorts.  i did get to rock the scarf for like an hour.  also - what exactly is going on with my hair?!?!  so gross.  i think its time for a trim.

happy friday!!!

black swan costumes

went to see black swan last night with some friends and the bf at the laemmle in pasadena. the movie was... strange. scary at some parts, funny at others and left me thinking "what happened? i don't get it." i was entertained though, so the movie served its purpose.

what i did notice was the costumes, so obviously i got home and did some research. i found out that the costumes were a collaboration between costume designer amy westcott and rodarte (how did i miss that news?).

i also really liked all the practice costumes. there was one really great grey knit that natalie portman wore, but unfortunately i couldn't find a picture. all the leg warmers, tu-tus and leotards make me wanna start doing ballet (or just dress like i do).

new fab find: hurley by pendleton

normally i wouldn't be interested in anything hurley, until i saw their pendleton collaboration collection. i LOVE pendleton, and will check out anything that is related to the brand. when i found out that the hurley pop up shop was opening at the americana and would be carrying the collection, obviously i had to make a trip.

they have men's, women's and accessories at the store, basically everything that is also on the site.

love the soft, fuzzy lining

of course i was more interested in the women's apparel than then men's but i do really like the fleece hoodie and the plaid shirts (although the price point is the same as the normal pendleton shirts). i decided to try on two items, the jeans and the cropped jacket.

while the jeans are really cute, i wasn't really happy with the fit. because of the wool panels on the back of the thigh there is no stretch at all, and the jeans were hard to get on even though the waist fit fine. also - i feel like this could be a relatively easy (and waaaay cheaper) DIY.

i love this jacket! it was comfortable, and def. feels like it will keep you warm. the body is lined with a really soft sherpa fabric. the actual color of the sherpa fabric is not as bright white as the images on the site. also, i'm a bit confused as to why its called a cropped jacket, the length didn't feel short or cropped at all. one nice feature is that the hood is removable, which i think is great. once you remove the hood i feel like the jacket can be dressed up a bit. i might just have to pick up the jacket for myself i love it so much.
