mothers day - originally a reaction to the death and destruction of war during the civil war (see the
mother's day proclamation), is now as commercial as all other holidays celebrated in the US - hey, why not make a buck or two (or billion) while you're at it?

regardless of the commercialization of the holiday (and our dislike of commercial) - i love my mama and spent the day with her over in the high desert/mountains off the 138 hwy (also know as pinon hills & wrightwood). brought her some flowers and a chocolate bar, bought some beer & lunch. visited my sissy at work (bad idea, i shopped!) and got a piece of pie from the newly opened pie shop. we finished a DIY, mom made mac&cheese for dinner and snacked on greens. nice, fun day. dogs were annoying though.
